The Woodlands, Texas. . .
Recently while driving from Texas to Virginia, I suffered a pulmonary embolus in Knoxville and was admitted to Parkwest Medical Center. The purpose of this letter is to commend this hospital and its excellent doctors, nurses and support staff, and offer praise and thanks to your city in general.
My husband and I were greatly impressed by those who not only met our unique needs, but were exceedingly generous in kindness and compassion. This includes many individuals, from the concerned Cracker Barrel manager (two exits up from Parkwest - thank you, Mr. Manager) to the staff of the Hampton Inn, where my husband stayed while I remained hospitalized for five days.
You do, indeed, have a city of good, regular folks. Many times, we are quick to complain of perceived shortcomings and neglect in expressing gratitude. My hope is that this letter will convey to Parkwest Medical Center and to Knoxville our appreciation, and that it may also encourage your residents to be proud and supportive of such an outstanding medical facility. What began as a very scary experience for us concluded in recovery and many pleasant “people experiences.” I was most certainly “treated well and well treated.” Thank you, one and all!

Today I had my first mammogram. I went to Parkwest Comprehensive Breast Center. From the moment I walked through the door, I knew I was going to have a great experience. The ladies at the front desk, I believe their names were Deborah and Melanie, were very accommodating guiding me through the various forms. Next I was greeted by Nurse Bonnie. She gave me step-by-step directions, and eased my anxiety. She was extremely professional and was great at her job. Before I could blink an eye, the procedure was over! All those terrible stories about pain and discomfort did not apply to me, thanks to Bonnie. I mentioned that I would be leaving town within two days, and was afraid I would miss the call to hear my results. Sweet Bonnie called me on my cell phone shortly after I left the procedure and gave me the results (which were good by the way). Again, I would like to commend this group on their ability to make a woman feel comfortable during a very necessary test. You ladies rock!

I visited Parkwest Medical Center for the first time on Aug. 12. I was there for a kidney ultrasound and found the entire staff, from the valet attendant to the young lady that checked me in, to be very friendly and professional. I was also struck by how well dressed they were. I was particularly pleased with the excellent care the ultrasound technician, Jan, provided. She was friendly, very professional and showed sincere interest in my well being. There is nothing more that could have been done that would have made me more comfortable. Thank you!

I just wanted to pass on a positive comment. Every time I come to the Parkwest Comprehensive Breast Center, I am treated great! I just started coming to your office about a year ago. The first time I came the person at the front counter said that they would call me in a few minutes and that they would take excellent care of me. Hearing comments like that in today's time is unheard of. . . It is funny how simple words can make an impact on you. Anyway, at my appointment this month, the person at the front was very nice, and she also said that I would be called in a few minutes and that they would take excellent care of me. No matter what, you always dread going to get a mammogram because it is uncomfortable! I just want to say that Bonnie Nelson was great! I was dreading my appointment for nothing because she did an excellent job, making the process seem almost painless! Not sure how she did it, but whatever technique she has, it works. She did exactly what the lady out front promised: she took excellent care of me!

Thanks so much for everything you did for me for the past three months. You are all an inspiration to your profession. Your mannerism and attitude should be mimicked across the country whereever cardiac wellness and rehabilitation programs are run. I don’t know where you all received your training, but I know it’s second to none! You all made my rehabilitation a positive experience and I would be glad to recommend your services to anyone, anywhere. So, thanks again for all you do.
I have included some of my now famous roasted almonds for you to enjoy! If any of you wants the recipe don’t hesitate to call.
P.S. I have now one more goal for myself besides rehabilitation, i.e., a national gold medal in table tennis. Look out here I go!!!

I had an MRI at Parkwest on Aug. 10 and your staff absolutely went above and beyond. B.J. Snyder, Steve Bouvia, Jason Goans and Jason Raiford-Davis ARE AWESOME. I am extremely claustrophobic and the staff were so wonderful and patient with me. I would never have made it without their caring and compassion! Not once did anyone make me feel like I was taking too much time waiting for my relaxation meds to take effect. These are exactly the type of employees your organization should be proud of. They truly function as a team and it is apparent they enjoy their job! Parkwest is fortunate to have these people as employees.
