Physical Therapy (PT)
Acute Physical Therapy offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients after acute illness, surgery or other procedures. Areas of services include:
- Elective orthopedic patients, such as total knee or hip replacements
- Education and an exercise regimen for heart patients
- Special treatment and education for patients with neurological damage
- All patients with physical impairments in all areas throughout the hospital.
Occupational Therapy (OT)
Occupational Therapy offers comprehensive evaluations and treatments of patients after acute mental and physical illness, surgeries, or other procedures.
- Upper extremity splints or assistive devices
- Assessments and retraining of activities of daily living skills
- Upper extremity function for range of motion, strength, coordination, sensation and pain
- Cognitive assessments and home safety evaluations
- Education of proper car transfers after orthopedic surgeries.
Speech and Language Pathology (SLP)
Speech and Language Pathology services at Parkwest include evaluation and treatment of:
- Cognitive and language disorders associated with stroke, head injury and dementia
- Neurogenic speech disorders
- Functional and organic voice disorders
- Videofluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing
- Laryngectomy
- Tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients.
The above services are also available as an outpatient service at Parkwest Medical Center.
