    The services offered at Parkwest Medical Center are enhanced by several specialized outpatient centers located near the hospital.  These include:

    The Parkwest Comprehensive Breast Center is recognized as a Breast Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).  It is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary program, offering a full range of clinical and support services. 

     

    An FDA/ACR-accredited facility, the Center stands at the of care, from screening and diagnosis of breast cancer to treatment and counseling.

    At Parkwest Comprehensive Breast Center, we tailor services to fit your individual health needs:

     

                Digital mammography – X-ray images of the breast and tissues to spot possible problems. 

                Breast ultrasound – Sound waves detect inconsistencies in tissue.

                Stereotactic biopsy – a minimally invasive procedure that is an alternative to open surgery biopsy.

                Bone density screenings – to detect osteoporosis.

                Multidisciplinary breast conference – to expedite your total treatment and plan of care.

                Breast health coordinator – a registered nurse who assists patients through treatment to recovery.

     

    For the convenience of our patients, more than 50 highly skilled physicians are affiliated with Covenant Health’s breast centers.  The Parkwest Breast Center also has a resource room featuring an educational library, brochures, and magazines.  Convenient free parking is located nearby.

     

     

    Fort Sanders Cardiac Rehabilitation

    Cardiac rehabilitation helps individuals with chronic cardiovascular disease to live well and reduce the risk of future cardiac events.  Fort Sanders Cardiac Rehabilitation was one of the first programs to receive national certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation for consistent clinical outcomes with heart patients. 

     

    The nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians, counselors, and pharmacists at Fort Sanders Cardiac Rehabilitation work as a team with physicians to provide an intensive lifestyle modification approach for heart disease management.

     

    Individuals who have heart disease and are referred by their attending physician are eligible for the program.  Rehabilitation includes three sessions each week for 8-12 weeks, depending on progress toward individual health goals.  Each session lasts two hours, with one hour for medically supervised and monitored exercise and one for group education.  Individual counseling on stress management, home exercise, diet and medications is also included.

    Pulmonary rehabilitation designs individualized programs to help patients who have been diagnosed with lung disease to begin and maintain more healthy lifestyles.

    Parkwest Therapy Center is a member of Covenant Therapy Centers, which offer comprehensive rehabilitation services and a variety of specialized therapy programs.  Our therapists provide expertise and support to help patients improve their strength, stamina, and range of motion, and quality of life.  They often have advanced certifications for specific types of rehabilitation:

                Vestibular Rehabilitation

                Lymphedema Treatment Program

                Certified Hand Therapy

                Runner’s and Cyclist’s Screenings

     

     

    General physical therapy services include orthpedics, sports medicine, orthotics, aquatic therapy, adult neurological therapy, amputees, splint fabrication, spinal rehab and back education, functional capacity evaluations, work conditioning and fitness programs.

     

    Occupational therapy services include adult neurological therapy and orthopedics.  Speech therapy services are also available for neurological and cancer patients.
