 Parkwest Medical Center, in collaboration with Stephen Boyce, MD, of Parkwest Comprehensive Weight Loss Center (now known as Covenant Weight Management Center), has been designated by the American Society of Bariatric Surgery as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.
“Parkwest Medical Center recognizes morbid obesity as an extremely serious disease that compromises quality of life and increases the risk of mortality,” said Rick Lassiter, Parkwest’s president and chief administrative officer. “In response, Parkwest has partnered with Dr. Boyce to implement a comprehensive, systematic surgical treatment program for morbid obesity.”
The American Society of Bariatric Surgery (ASBS) recently established a Centers of Excellence program to accredit those bariatric centers that consistently deliver optimal levels of performance and demonstrate exceptional patient outcomes.
The Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), which administrates the American Society of Bariatric Surgery’s centers of excellence program, is a not-for-profit organization comprised of a Board of Governors and a respected Bariatric Surgery Review Committee.
The mission of the SRC is “to promote the delivery of bariatric surgical care with the highest levels of efficacy, efficiency, and safety.” The SRC determines policies and provides expertise to evaluate bariatric surgical programs.
After a rigorous on-site survey, the SRC has determined that Parkwest Medical Center’s bariatric program is compliant with the standards set forth to be designated by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.
“We are continuously encouraged by the positive outcomes of our patients and remain committed to pursuing excellence in every facet of our collaborative center as we battle the obesity epidemic,” said Dr. Boyce.
