Today’s vision. Tomorrow’s reality.
Parkwest Medical Center is committed to taking better care of our environment. Steps are in progress to help our daily business operations become earth-friendlier. We would like you to join us in this mission.
We can accomplish more if we unite together to make this vision a reality. Parkwest will be a community leader that shares its best practices with others who also want to do their part to take care of our planet.
If everyone does their part to reduce, reuse and recycle; we can rest assured knowing that future generations will be able to enjoy this land as much as we do today.
Green efforts identified.
These significant strides have already been made to support Parkwest Medical Center in its effort to go-green:
- Motion-censored lighting and towel dispensers
- Recycling pallets of wood, cardboard, shredded confidential documents and used cooking oil for bio-fuel
- Unused material donation
- Periodic on-site energy audits
Energy efficient lighting
- Utilization of “Energy Star” equipment
- Programmable thermostats
- Conducting regular HVAC and refrigerator tune-ups
- Encouragement of water conservation
- Employee carpool opportunities
- Regular vehicle tune-up and inspections
- Technology to reduce meeting travel
- Boiler room upgrades to reduce overall facility emissions and increase efficiency
- Creation of Team Green for employees
- Updating processes to accommodate Single Stream recycling
Where are we going?
Parkwest is providing Single Stream recycling opportunities in an effort to reduce its landfill waste. Single Stream recycling is more efficient because it takes less effort and space than traditional recycling. This new process allows for all plastic, paper and metal waste to be placed in one single container. Styrofoam, food, glass and wood and are the only items that cannot be placed in Single Stream; therefore these items still need to be placed in traditional waste containers. Participating in Single Stream recycling is a huge stride that will allow Parkwest to improve its environmental impact.

Reducing the amount of waste we contribute to landfills will help conserve our resources for future generations to enjoy.
