A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center were honored today with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days.

Graduation Day: First Nurse Residents Complete Program

Today Parkwest celebrated with our first cohort of nurse residents to complete the Covenant Health’s Nurse Residency Program.  The 12-month structured program used classroom learning seminars, case studies, small group discussion, precepted clinical practice, and evidence-based practice projects to train the newly-graduated nurses. Covenant Health Response to CDC Advisory Linking Patient Infections to Potentially Contaminated Heater-Cooler Devices

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an advisory linking patient infections from Mycobacterium chimaera (M.chimaera) to the Stockert 3T Heater-Cooler devices used in open-heart surgery. Patient safety and privacy are top priorities for Covenant Health and we take the CDC’s advisory very seriously. After thorough review of our protocols at our
