Feature Friday – Nancy Kirkland, RN

It’s Staff Feature Friday and today we’re getting to know a little bit more about Nancy, our RN Outcomes Coordinator at Parkwest!

Headshot of Nancy Kirkland

How long have you worked at Parkwest? 33 years

Why do you love working at Parkwest? The culture of high standards and expectations that the charter employees and physicians began that still exists today. They trusted this hospital to us when they left and it’s nice to work toward never letting them down. I’ve met some amazing people here, both co-workers, physicians, and patients and that’s the best part of working here.

Where are you from?  I grew up in Riceville Tennessee, about 65 miles south of Knoxville and just outside of Athens.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?  Go through the Ft Loudon locks on our houseboat with just my husband and myself – it’s not as easy as it sounds and we made a mess of the whole thing.

If you found a $5 bill, how would you spend it? I’m always saving coins and left over lunch money at the end of the week for something special or vacation so I would save it.

What is your favorite TV show? For the summer, America’s Got Talent.

What is your favorite family tradition? Go to Market Square before Christmas.  Just to walk around, see the skating rink and go to Mast General.

Are you an introvert or extrovert? Mostly an extrovert.

How do you want others to remember you? As a kind and honorable person.
