Congratulations to Laurel Proulx, one of our clinical social workers, for being recognized with the BEE award. Laurel was nominated by her supervisor.
“Laurel is our social worker and she has made it her personal goal to find a safe discharge place for him to go. Laurel started digging and found out that he had been denied TennCare a while back. Laurel has successfully helped his brother file for an appeal and actually won that appeal so the patient now has TennCare. Laurel kept asking why and researching for a place to send this patient to where he will be cared for and successful after discharge. She found the DIDDs program and finally got him enrolled into it after many emails, phone calls and appeals to the state. Then she helped the patient complete multiple Zoom interviews and questionnaires. She has scheduled after care appointments in Memphis and helped secure transportation of this patient to his group home in Memphis. This patient is set to discharge on the 28th because Laurel took it upon herself to keep trying to find a safe discharge plan for this patient. She has truly been his biggest advocate with little participation from the family. Without her speaking up and fighting for him this patient would not have a successful discharge plan.”
