Patty Ray presented with BEE Award

Congratulations to Patty Ray, one of our health unit coordinators for being recognized with the BEE award. Patty was nominated by another coworker for her great attitude and for being an amazing coworker.

Patty’s Nomination

“Patty is vital to the success of 2D because she wears many hats and constantly goes above and beyond to provide patients with excellent care and support to her team.

Patty manages the flow of 2D with the precision of an air traffic controller. She knows the needs of our floor thoroughly and works tirelessly to maintain a manageable work flow, making all of our roles easier.

Patty also functions as a CNA most nights, running constantly between the desk and patient rooms to meet the needs of patients and support the nurses.

Patty is excellent at her job and gives superior care to patients but she deserves this award most for the manner in which she supports her co-workers. Patty anticipates the needs of the floor and her staff. She often has begun working on a task or meeting a need before we can even verbalize the request. Patty has supplies ordered and delivered before we even realize we need anything. She manages the expectations of patients and helps them feel heard, making the roles of nurses dramatically easier.

Most importantly, Patty cares for us outside of the roles we play on 2D. Recent challenges in healthcare have taken a toll on our positivity and mental health. Patty has not wavered in her positivity and support. She is always giving us encouragement and hugs when needed. She looks after us in so many ways. She makes sure that we have eaten or had a break, even when she has not. She reminds us to take a minute to distress while she is extreme multi-tasking and boosting our confidence when we feel like we are falling behind on our never ending task list.

Patty would be the first one to say that she’s just doing her job. She is humble and doesn’t like recognition. I want her to win this award in order for everyone to see her through our eyes as someone who has a heart for others and embodies that through her actions. Patty is so much more to us than our HUC and coworker. She is constant, has a caring presence and I know with certainty that we could not have survived the challenges of the past several years without her.”

BEE committee presented Patty with her award.
