Who will I see when I visit the Sleep Disorders Center?

Our patients may see many of the following  sleep center clinicians during their evaluation and treatment: our certified sleep physicians, nurse practitioner, or PSG/CPAP technicians.

Joseph Gnanaraj , MD, ABIM, ABPD, ABCC, ABSM

Dr. Joseph has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Seep Medicine since 2005. He comes to sleep medicine from the field of pulmonary medicine. He graduated from the Thanjavur Medical College/ Bharathidasan University, Thanjavur, India. Dr. Joseph completed Residency at North Shore University Hospital, Forest Hills, New York and his Fellowship at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset – NYU School of Medicine, New York He received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2001, Pulmonary Medicine in 2003, Sleep Medicine in 2007, and Critical Care Medicine in 2004. Dr. Joseph is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American College of Chest Physicians, and American Medical Association.

 Alsharif Abdelhamid, MD, ABIM, ABPD, ABCC, ABSM

Dr. Alsharif comes to sleep medicine from the field of pulmonary medicine. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Knoxville, Tennessee. Dr. Alsharif completed both Residency and Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Knoxville, Tennessee. He received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2012, Pulmonary Medicine in 2014, Sleep Medicine in 2007, and Critical Care Medicine in 2015. Dr. Alsharif is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, and Tennessee Medical Association.

Bruce Henschen, MD, ABIM, ABPD, ABCC, ABSM

Dr. Henschen comes to sleep medicine from the field of pulmonary medicine. He graduated from East Carolina University College of Medicine, Greeneville, NC. Dr. Henschen completed both Internship and Residency at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Lexington, KY. He then attended his Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA. He received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1985, Pulmonary Medicine in 1988, Critical Care in 1989, and Sleep Medicine in 2009. Dr. Henschen is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Thoracic Society

Andrews Paul, MD, ABIM, ABPD, ABCC, ABSM

Dr. Paul comes to sleep medicine from the field of pulmonary medicine. He graduated from Kottayam Medical College, Kerela, India. Dr. Paul completed his Residency at the at New York Methodist hospital in 2000. He then attended his Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at The Penn State University Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA in 2003. He received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2000, Pulmonary Medicine in 2003, Critical Care in 2004, and Sleep Medicine in 2004. Dr. Paul is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Thoracic Society and American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Matthew Reichert, MD, ABIM, ABPD, ABCC, ABSM

Dr. Reichert comes to sleep medicine from the field of pulmonary medicine. He graduated from Southern Illinois University, Springfield, IL. Dr. Reichert completed both Residency and his Fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2005, Pulmonary Medicine in 2007, Critical Care in 2008, and Sleep Medicine in 2011. Dr. Reichert is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, and the ACP-ASIM.

P. Lynn Nichols, MD, ABIM, ABPD, ABCC, ABSM

Dr. Nichols comes to sleep medicine from the field of pulmonary medicine. He graduated from the East Tennessee State University – James H. Quillen College of Medicine, Johnson City, TN. Dr. Nichols completed both Residency and Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. He received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1998, Pulmonary Medicine in 2000, and Sleep Disorders Medicine in 2005. Dr. Nichols is the Medical Director for Sleep Services for StatCare.

Gwen Crenshaw, NP
Crenshaw is a Nurse Practitioner with twelve years of experience in Sleep Medicine. Initially earning a BS in Physical Therapy in 1988 from the Medical University of South Carolina, Crenshaw earned her Masters Degree in Nursing from University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1998. She is board certified in Family Medicine and Occupational Health. She worked in Occupational Medicine and the Urgent Walk-in Clinic environment for eight years before joining Covenant Health.  A strong member of our Parkwest Sleep Center team, Ms. Crenshaw is committed to helping our clients successfully treat their sleep disorders.
