Staff Throwback Thursday
Welcome to our weekly feature — Staff Throwback Thursday! In this feature we’ll be checking in with employees who have worked with Parkwest for more than twenty years! We hope you enjoy learning more about our long-term employees!
Rachell Barrett, Supervisor of Laboratory Support Services
- How long have you worked at Parkwest? 22 Years of service. I started at Parkwest in January of 1997 as Laboratory Assistant. I also held a position as a Team Leader Registration for several years before moving into my current role.
- How much has the hospital grown or changed since you were hired? In 1997 the campus was tiny in comparison to what it is today. Outpatient Services and the Cafeteria were both located near the Physician’s Plaza and were beginning to outgrow their space. I recall some very challenging days with patient parking in the tiny lot that is now currently designated for ambulance parking.
- What’s your favorite memory of working at Parkwest? Working in our Outpatient Laboratory taking care of our patients. Some of my most challenging and rewarding days were spent there.
- What’s kept you at Parkwest over twenty years? Honestly the culture. Parkwest has been blessed with employees that truly care about community and their workplace. It’s the dedication of all of us at Parkwest that’s made it the success it is today! Pride has kept me here for over twenty years. I’m proud to say I’m part Parkwest’s history!
