Jennifer Price, RN, Presented with The DAISY Award

A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center was honored today with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days. Congratulations to Jennifer, an RN in our Childbirth Center for being recognized with the DAISY award.  Jennifer was nominated by a patient for the amazing care and support she provided during her delivery and hospital stay.

Jennifer’s Nomination

“On February 26, 2021, at 36 weeks pregnant, I was sent from my routine doctor’s appointment to labor and delivery due to sudden onset of pre-eclampsia. From the moment I got to labor and delivery everyone was so wonderful. All of the nurses were so calm and collective, that I had very little idea how serious things were. They were all so understanding and patient waiting on my husband to get our other kids to family to get to the hospital without missing the birth of our son. Labor and delivery were very quick. Unfortunately the birth of our son was just the beginning of a very long and difficult week for me due to complications of the pre-eclampsia. I was so blessed with the most amazing nurse for my week stay.

Jennifer P.  was my nurse for the entire week. Over that time she really took the time to get to know me. She takes patient care to the next level. I had some very difficult days and she was there to encourage me and she spoke up for me and advocated for me when I couldn’t for myself. She cheered me on breastfeeding a 4 lb, 12 oz. preemie and we celebrated his weight gains together. She laughed with me and was there to listen when I was scared. She was so compassionate when I just needed to cry.

I’ve been back to labor and delivery for outpatient blood pressure monitoring and was blessed to have Jennifer by my side again. She was again so helpful to help me communicate my questions and concerns to my doctor. She puts in long hours consecutive days which is such a blessing to her patients to have consistency in care. This woman is an absolute angel and you can really tell her whole heart is what she does. I’ll be forever grateful for Jennifer!”
